After 6 months without a dog, I couldn't stand it any longer. I started looking. And I looked, and I looked, and I googled, and I asked vets, and other breeders, and finally, finally, I found a standard dachshund. Introducing . . .
July 13, 2010 Why "Parker", you ask, or, even if you don't - It goes back about 3 years when, at work, we had a spider walking on the walls of the office. The gentleman who was in the office with me wanted to kill it, but I wouldn't let him. I told him that that was my pet, "Parker" (as in Peter Parker, as in Spider-Man). The spider lived and I got the notion of "Parker" as a good name for a pet. I know, I know, not original, not clever, but, that's who he is. The wonderful lady who bred Cheech, who at this time is not breeding (I would've waited for one of her puppies if she were), recommended these breeders to me. Normally, I would not have trusted getting a pup I'd never met, whose parents I'd never seen, whose breeders I knew nothing about. However, as Pat had given me the lead, I felt that I knew enough to know that I could trust them. Ironically enough, Jerry felt the same about me, for the same reason. So, even though I didn't get Parker from her, there is no way this match-up would have occurred without Pat. Thank you so much!! And, a just as large "Thank you so much!!" to Jerry, who was willing to meet me half-way. Again, probably wouldn't have happened without his help. Born a Georgia Bulldog on February 12, 2010, he will be raised a Florida Gator. At 5 months of age, he made the almost 500 mile trip home on July 13, 2010. Luckily, we made it back into town in time to go to his new doctor's. He weighs 19 lbs., 11 oz. Don't ask me why, but my vet doesn't microchip, so we'll have to make an appointment with one of our back-up docs to get that done as soon as possible. He'll get the last remaining shot, rabies, on Saturday, as this day has been eventful enough! While I am not "over" losing Cheech, nor any of those over all the years (that simply will never happen), I do believe that Parker and I will get along quite well and that he will bring some much needed love back into my life.
